The first akad

The first mini kenduri of Wani, my sister in law is done. Phew. Back to Taiping and working. Why it's mini kenduri? Because it is only the solemnization ceremony. The reception will be held in January next year. So now it's time to focus on the next event which is the akad and reception of my own sister, Uda in Taiping this coming weekend. Let's have a run through, shall we. The next week will be the reception on the groom side in KL. Another week later is the reception of Wani in Seremban and the week after that is the reception of Wani's husband side also in Seremban. See how many kenduris I have in line. Fuh.

Though it's just a feast for akad ceremony, the exhaustion was extreme. Because the food is not catered but self cooked. I think the cleaning up of plates and glasses, pots and pans and storing them away dry and clean was the most tiring. Plus it was held at night thus we worked hard to clear up everything until past midnight. The guest was estimated around 100 people but the turnout was way more. Nevertheless it was really really fun. There's warmth and laughter and I got to meet his side of the family again (a good chance to recall the names of the pakciks, makciks and cuzzies =p).

Pasangan pencuci pinggan mangkuk, periuk, talam, gelas, dulang, sudu, senduk, teko. Hehe.

She, who's reluctant with make up especially the fake eyelashes but was forced by the rest of us. Haha. I really respect Wani. I like how she is so moderate in everything. It doesn't mean she is conservative. Oh no, she is far from conservative. She's just following the rules of moderation as a muslim.

I love this picture. They look so sweet together. Congratulations to the both of you! Barakallah. May you guys have a wonderful blessed marriage throughout your life :)

Transisi

Brrr. Sejuk betul klinik ni. Sejak mula berpuasa makin menjadi-jadi kesejukkannya. Maklumlah, proses metabolisme menurun. Haba pun kurang. Huu.

Ok, sungguh pantas sudah hari keenam berpuasa. Tapi tahun ini rasa paling best. Sebab hari pertama berpuasa rasa macam biasa je. Sumpah lembik sampaikan terbaring-baring menunggu waktu berbuka. Saya siap pernah terfikir hendak ambil cuti saja setiap tahun pada hari pertama puasa. Tapi tahun ini memang tiada masalah langsung. Mental makin kuatkah atau fizikal makin hebat? Hmm. Apa apa pun alhamdulillah.

Saya sebenarnya sangat teruja minggu ini. Semalam mendapat perkhabaran bahawa kad kahwin telah siap. Maka tidak sabarlah menunggu ketibaannya. Yey!

Hujung minggu lepas adik saya pulang berpuasa bersama. Tiba-tiba dia cakap kalau ikut bulan lagi sebulan lebih je hang nak kahwin. Tapi kalau ikut hari lagi berapa hari je eh? Erk, saya pun mengira dalam hati. Iye tak iye, lagi 45 hari je. Eh eh, rasa macam kejap sangat je lagi. Betul ke nak kahwin ni? Sudah bersedia ke ni? Aaaaa...

Maka haruslah saya menyemak semula persiapan saya.

The perfect pair of ring

Weekend is nearly over. God, my back and neck hurts from standing and looking upward too long while painting the room. I can say that I had a fruitful week. From sunday to tuesday I was at KL for the Allied Health Proffesional Scientific Meeting as a poster presenter. I didn't realize it was quite a big event until I saw all the media and reporters. Turns out it was launched by our own Health Minister and it also saw the official handing over of Allied Health Unit previously under Medical Development Division KKM to Allied Health Division. So now, we're standing on our own here. Yey! This is good for all of us as allied health proffesional. But I wouldn't go over how important it is to have and manage our own division not under someone else shadow. Nah, too boring. Hehe.

The important thing is I got to exchange a few words with the Health Minister! I wish there was a briefing or an early announcement though that he was going to tour the posters straight after launching. Instead he was already halfway down to the lobby when the announcement was made to standby at your posters. Geez, I had to really run and push past the crowds. Mine was number four so I skidded to a stop just seconds before he turns around from poster number three. Imagine the flustered look on my face. Haiya.

He was here too! Hee. Just for the registration day though since he had a symposium too at Times Square the day before. So we took the chance to go find our perfect pair of ring =) We still had no idea though what his ring is going to be since white gold is still gold and platinum is way out of budget (We walked past Tiffany & Co gazing inside lingeringly=p) Then I remembered this stainless steel jewelry shop and voila! It's Bausch K. and the designs are great. I wanted a simple yet elegant wedding band and they have just the right one. They carry silver range too but silver needs constant polishing. Stainless steel is much better. So, if any of you is thinking of getting a ring for your man, head on there.

I must applaud the salesgirl of Bausch K. in KLCC. We really like her service.

Oh, oh, Habib in KLCC is so impressive. The selections of rings are endless compared with other branches. And it's easier to find my ring when we've found his. It only took 10 minutes. Ga ga.

Checklist:
  • Our perfect pair of ever after ring - Done!

Penang splendour

Last weekend was spent at Penang with him to buy things for our hantaran and wedding. Penang is one of the checkpoint for us to meet aside KL. With him working in Kuching, we only met occasionally which is fine by me coz I don't think my parents approve of too much dating. Hehe. So we meet when we have to meet or we meet when we have the same courses and meetings. But I'm praying that we don't have to bear with this long distance relationship after we get married.

Ok, back to Penang.

I drove to Penang early saturday morning eager to start shopping. Syoknya! Meanwhile he already arrived the night before and staying as usual at Tune hotel. I picked him up and headed straight to Gurney Plaza. A shopping heaven for branded boutiques I must say. We found almost everything we're looking for here. Even the Parkson is having sale. Nice!

That night my plan was to take him to one of my favourite spot in Penang. Ferringhi night market! It's a lovely long row of small booths selling many kind of things. Be sure to have the time and stamina though. It's a very very long row. There's such a variety of things sold here but most of it are souvenirs since Ferringhi is almost always packed with tourists. But some of the souvenirs are one of a kind. It's a pleasure to just browse and have a look. It's also a heaven for pirate DVDs. Shhh. Hehe. There's this one stall which have all the season of tv series. You name it, Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, NCIS, CSI, Ghost Whisperer, Psych, Chuck, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, Vampire Diaries, bla bla bla..the list goes on and on. So, I bought the second season of Gilmore (I'm never tired of this series), the sixth season of Grey's Anatomy and the Vampire Diaries! Nyum. Hehe.

Btw, George O' Malley really dies! I mean yeah he's quitting the series but by dying is such a tragic exit. tsk. Also, Seattle Grace Hospital merge with Mercy West Hospital so there's lots of new faces in the series which only brings lots of gossip, drama and bickering. Haha. So fun and exciting to watch. The Mercy West interns are quite obnoxious at first. Teeeet, end of spoilers =p

Once in Penang, of course you have to enjoy the foods. So that night, we hunt for charkueyteow. We're disappointed though. The one that we had is simply not good. But the pasembor is delicious. Too bad we couldn't enjoy it much since we're bloated with air as we ate so late.

The next day was spent at Queensbay Mall. Just strolling, window shopping, eating, having fun and catching a movie. Jaden Smith is so cute! Karate Kid is a must watch. He'll grew up to be a great actor just as his dad.

So remember when you go to Penang: Ferringhi night market! Hehe.

Bye Penang. For now =)

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
Cause everything is never as it seems

Oh my, it's nearing July. Again time flew really fast when you least expect it. Come september and I'll be 28 years old. Seriously? To say it out loud feels really weird. I still feel so young. Ngee.

On second thought, our big day is getting nearer! Ok, so now I have to really change gear and accelerate in preparing for my wedding. What have I done so far? Let's see.

1. Photographer confirmed. Deposit paid. We'll be using the same photographer on both side. Is it good that way? I don't know. But he takes good pictures. His accommodation is yet to be booked.

2. Homestay for my dear's family already paid for too. Two-storey, fully furnitured, lots of extra mattress and pillows plus ample parking space for rm180 only. Should be really comfortable. I couldn't be happier.

3. Already decided on the wedding card. Still discussing the details inside with him. Should be able to order by next week.

4. Have bought the lace and lining for the ladies in the family. So now will proceed to send to the tailor along with my baju nikah =) I'm still considering the design though. Simple mini kurung or fashionable mermaid dress with extra beading and such? Hmm..

5. Paper bag for guests bought. Actually by my parents quite some time ago. They were so excited. Hehe. Am going to survey the goodies to put inside next week.

6. And tomorrow we'll be on a shopping spree for our hantaran. Yey! Hopefully we'll be able to find most of the stuffs we've listed. I think it's easier to buy everything on one trip since it's not often that he can come home.

Phew. I know I'm so excited and happy preparing but I couldn't help feeling scared. I'm that person who likes to look through and scrutinize every little details until I'm satisfied but there is just so many things to look at. The feeling is so overwhelming. Hopefully I can cross out lots more stuff by July so I can settle down this panic feeling inside of me. Ngee.

~One of my hantaran for engagement from him. Kek lapis Sarawak with our names on each side. I love it! Amazing skill I must say. My nieces and nephews is still amazed with how it was done. Hehe.

~of wedding

It's nearing May now and I guess I should reaaally focus on my wedding preparation. My, how time flies. So I've been googling and blog walking around. Suddenly I realised that I am not even 20% close to preparing for my wedding! It's really a shock to see the extent of preparation done by some people months before their wedding. Huu, there's not so much that I know about weddings. Of course la since this is the first wedding in the family right.

I did download a wedding countdown checklist provided by Discovery Channel Home and Health. According to it, I should now already:
  • select a date - done!
  • compile guest list - halfway!
  • check the legal requirements and any documents that will be required - halfway!
  • select and book photographer - done!
  • decide on the type of catering, reception menus and book the caterers - not yet!
  • make sure all bridal attire is ordered and fittings booked in - not yet!
  • choose outfits for the groom, bridesmaid, bestman, close family- not yet!
  • choose and order wedding rings - not yet!

Huu. See, see..

Than I found this very useful info about veil.

If you're shorter than 5' 4" you should select an elbow length veil (30" long). If you are taller than 5' 7" you should select a fingertip-length veil (36" long). If you are in between these heights, you could go with either length depending on your personal taste.

I see. Now, what about the color, fabric, style or cutting? (And this is just veil we're talking about)

Aku stress.

Ilmu Kahwin

Ilmu mana paling seronok dipelajari? Meeeestila .....Hehe. Ala, dua-dua pun seronok.

Jadi saja mahu kongsi pengalaman pertama kursus kahwin saya. Jadi pergi sekali saja cukuplah. Tapi kalau rasa rajin mahu menuntut lebih, pergilah berulang kali di merata tempat pun. Tiada siapa larang.

Saya memang cerewet sikit.

Kursus kahwin checked! Moving on! Hihi ;)

:: Cantiknya Masjid Negara itu. Sayang betul kamera tertinggal. Isk2..

When I give my heart
I give it completely
Or I'll never give my heart

So as promised, some of the wedding picts of Na and Sham. Both at Kelantan and Perak. I had a blast at both weddings though totally exhausted as after the wedding in Kelantan, I had to rush to KL the same evening for a contact lens workshop held the next day. I can't imagine how much more exhausted he is as he drive all the way to KL (I want to take turn but he just won't let me=p)

Both Na and Sham were schoolmates at MRSM Beseri. It's where they met, more than 10 years ago. Their love really comes a long way. Wow!

Beautiful eh? White and cream is always perfect for a wedding. This is at the groom's house.

Boy, what a hot day.

You and me, grey=)

Below is the wedding in Kelantan. The theme was blue. It's the bride's favourite colour.

Happy and ready to eat. Hehe=p And the food was yummy! There's even tom yam served during the feast after solemnization. Slurpp..

The cute bridesmaid and the handsome photographer=p

That's all I've got for now. I don't know why but I'm always excited to share wedding picts. Hehe. Well, wishing happiness and blissful life ahead to the newly wed. Congrates guys!=)

~A White Wedding~

I went to my best friend's wedding recently. Though the solemnization was last month, the reception was only held last week. It was one of the wedding that I find beautiful because it went smoothly and the weather was lovely. The food was great (slurpp..hehe) and everybody had a good time though a bit exhausted as we slept late to finish hanging the curtains and filling the goodie bags=p

The royal couple of the day. Mariyatul (Mar) and Amizul (Miju).

In white suit for cake cutting ceremony.

Mar looking radiant before her make up session (Took the time while waiting for her mak andam to arrive to practice posing for photography session later. Hehe)

Me and the bride=)

Really really love the wedding theme of classic english. It's beautiful! Just look at the picts below. The wedding dais is just like in a grand hotel. Love the high chair and I like how simple the decorations are, yet it's so lovely. And the brides room is just superb! I couldn't resist posing for photos myself=p

=p

Some of the wedding gifts. Cool gadjets!

It's the cute couple again. Hehe. Wishing both of you happiness forever =)

Oh, it's me with a small fan, Afis. Hihi=p
